Tanya is a Cree woman from the Driftpile Cree Nation and now lives in Edmonton. She has been beading for 9 years and every year she learns more and more. Beading is meditating and relaxing and for that it has been very important to her mental health. She has also been teaching beading for 7 years and loves that she is able to share her knowledge. She was given a loom and a cookie tin of beads in her early twenties. Her auntie taught her how to loom but her passion was beading and continues to study and learn different beading techniques. For Tanya to bead is to pray, to pray is to heal, to heal is to be happy. She creates beaded jewelry, dreamcatchers, lanyards and much more!
