I’m from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation in Saskatchewan but was raised in Alberta, I married a Tahltan tlingit member from Yukon/BC.
I draw my inspiration for my art and bead work from three worlds Cree, Tahltan and Tlingit because they in compass my childre who are cree, thaltan and Tlingit, they are all very different but beautiful cultures to be a part of.
For my kokum, it was a way to spend time together it was difficult but they guided me and was there when I didn’t know what to do I have begun to teach my children and am willing to teach other because my kokums installed a beautiful connections for me to my Cree roots.
I create star and patch quilt blankets, ribbon skirts, Cree regalia, hand bags and purses, and cedar hats when cedar is available to me in beading I create earrings, bracelets, barrettes, lanyards, key chains, wristlets, broaches, pow wow sets, chokers, I sew and bead all on my own by hand and sewing machine I try to have each piece only made once in that color patterns , I like to have people have one of a kind pieces even if they are similar to my other designs.
