Arden Herman of Bead work & Bannock

Roots: Fort McMurray
Now calls home: Edmonton, AB
My name is Arden Herman , I was born and raised in Fort McMurray, AB. I’m from Dene and Metis descent my dad is Dene from LaLoche Saskatchewan and my mom is Metis from Anzac Alberta.
I’ve always been very interested in beading and sewing so when my mom started learning how from watching her grandma I knew i wanted to learn and carry the traditions. I make earrings in my own style but also learnt how to make them on moose hide and am learning to make moccasins. I enjoying learning new skills and seeing how other artists have their own style of making things.
I also make quilts and other sewn goods, I learnt from a very talented seamstress in high school and I hope to continue to learn new techniques and skills through the I.a.m collective and their amazing group of artists.
Arden is a proud LGBTQ2S Community member, who boldly advocates for Trans Rights.
