My name is Alyssa-Mae Laviolette, I am Denesuline from Treaty 8 Territory and am a member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in Fort Chipewyan, AB.
I use my last name in my work and my language to honour my family and the roots where I come from. In Dene, we incorporate florals in all of our pieces and I like to merge that in the work that I do as well using traditional elements such as smoked hide. I am self taught in many ways, as well have received teachings from elders to guide me in my craft.
