My name is Lena Daniels I am an indie country music artist based in Edmonton, AB originally hailing from Thompson, MB. A proud Canadian that fondly embraces my Cree (nehiyaw) roots.
Growing up as a little girl I was first exposed to performing and singing through Church which is where I would participate in sing-alongs and gospel hymns. As I grew older I became enthralled by country music and started entering local talent shows as well as seeking out free programs wherever possible.
Using some of my childhood challenges and experiences of abuse and poverty as a driving force behind some of my song-writing and musical style. I found that this was a way to release some of my emotions.
Having always been drawn to music, particularly the whimsical twang of country heavy-hitters like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patty Loveless and The Judds and if you know me, you know I idolize the values and the legacy of Loretta Lynn. The moment I heard her music I knew I wanted to be just like that, “Coal miner’s daughter!” Being also inspired by the spirit and charisma of Lady Gaga and other artists who are unapologetically themselves, something I also strive to do in my music and everyday life.
In the last few years I have mainly been honing my craft as a songwriter and I have just begun sharing my music publicly with the hopes of hearing my songs one day on the radio.
